The Kettle Valley Steam Railway offers you a unique way to celebrate family gatherings, reunions and birthdays. It also provides the perfect backdrop for staff reward trips or business and convention outings. You can book your group on a regular run or charter the train for your own special day.
The round trip is approximately 90 minutes long and includes friendly, informative guides that bring the history of the railway alive as you take in spectacular views of beautiful Okanagan orchards and vineyards. The lake and Trout Creek Canyon are viewed from the Trout Creek Bridge, which spans the canyon 238 feet above Trout Creek (the highest structure on the original Kettle Valley Railway line!) Anecdotes, songs and the sound of steam all add to your experience on the only preserved section of the historic Kettle Valley Railway.
All trains depart from Prairie Valley Station on Bathville Road in Summerland (located near the Summerland Rodeo grounds) which features The Trout Creek Trading Company Gift Shop offering a wide selection of train memorabilia, books, clothing & unique souvenir treasures. While we don’t have full concession facilities we do offer cold beverages and packaged snacks for sale at the Station and onboard the train. There are also catering options for groups or if you would like to bring your own bag lunch please do. You are welcome to enjoy your meal in our covered picnic area capable of seating 260 people. The Station, Washroom facility and picnic shelter are completely wheelchair accessible.
We also offer easy wheelchair passenger loading onto the train with our hydraulic lift – however we are unable to accommodate larger than standard wheelchairs on our inside coaches because of vintage coach doors. Open Air seating is available for those passengers.
